Hiring a Roofer

How to find a contractor worth hiring. Credentials to verify, questions to ask, how to compare estimates, what a contract should contain, and the warning signs.

The contractor matters as much as the material. A good roof installed badly fails early, and the manufacturer warranty that was supposed to cover it usually will not, because most material warranties assume correct installation.

These articles cover what to verify before you sign, what to ask while you are still deciding, and the behaviour that should end a conversation. We do not recommend contractors, take referral fees, or run a directory. The point of this section is narrower than that: to make you a harder customer to mislead.
