Roofing Costs

How roofing prices are built up, from materials and labor to tear-off, disposal and access, so you can read an estimate and tell a fair number from a bad one.

Roofing prices look arbitrary until you know what goes into them. The same roof can be quoted at very different numbers by two honest contractors, because they have made different assumptions about the decking underneath, the number of existing layers, how hard the roof is to reach, or what happens if the weather turns mid-job.

These articles break the price into its parts, so an estimate stops being a single figure and becomes a list you can check line by line. We do not publish a price for your roof. Nobody honest can, without seeing it. What we can do is explain what each line should cover, and which omissions are worth asking about.
