General information, not professional advice

The articles and calculators on this site are built from manufacturer documentation, building codes and guidance published by industry bodies. They are not a substitute for an inspection, and they are not professional, legal, financial or insurance advice. A roof can only be properly assessed by someone qualified who has seen it in person.

Your roof, your climate, your code

Roofing practice, building codes, permit rules, insurance terms and prices all vary by location and change over time. Where an article gives a figure, a lifespan or a requirement, check it against your local code, the manufacturer’s instructions and the professionals working on your house before you act on it.

Calculators

The calculators give estimates from the measurements you enter. They are a starting point for a conversation with a roofer or supplier, not an order quantity or a quote. Measurements taken on site, waste allowances and manufacturer requirements take precedence.

Safety

Working on or near a roof is dangerous. Nothing on this site is an instruction to get onto a roof. Where an article describes a job that needs a professional, it says so, and if you are unsure whether a task is safe for you, treat it as one that is not.

No endorsements

RoofingWala does not sell roofing, book jobs, run a contractor directory or take referral fees, and it does not recommend particular companies. Where a product or material is named in an article, it is named to explain it, not to endorse it.
